Adult Duck Prices and Terms

I will no longer be selling Calls due to health reasons. This website will remain available as a reference for others. If you would like to find a Call breeder to purchase Calls I would highly recommend becoming a member of the Call Club. Through the club you will be able to network with other breeders, perhaps find a mentor fairly close to you who can help you learn hands on and also be able to locate other breeders nationally and internationally to share information and find birds. The National Call Breeders' Member Search page can also help you find a breeder near you. Another excellent web resource is the Brown Egg Blue Egg Show Listing page. This page lists upcoming shows by state. If you don't find anything close in the upcoming list, look at the page with past shows and see if there was anything close to you last year. Most shows are held in the same location at about the same time every year. If you know when the show was held the previous year you can check back closer to the show date for updated information. Despite the large number of colors of Calls available, beginners are better off with at least one of the basic colors, either white or grey. If you really want to try another color, that can be done as well but one of the two basics is much easier to start.

Our past buying terms for reference only:

Prices are quoted for fall delivery of pairs from our own stock hatched in the current year. Orders may be placed for trios or single birds of either sex but orders for pairs are given priority. A 10% discount (not including shipping costs) will be given for orders from 4-H members under the age of 16 purchasing the birds for a poultry project. To qualify for the discount, have your 4-H leader send a letter on the organization's letterhead that the birds are being purchased for the member's project. We reserve the right to require additional proof that the birds are being purchased for the stated purpose.

Our lines of Calls are fairly new to us but come from some of the best established breeders in the country. They are healthy, vigorous, produce well and have proven that they can hold their own in tough competition. The whites and greys have produced not just one or two exceptional offspring but have produced many excellent quality birds. The blues are approaching the type of the whites and greys but need some filling out and work on color. Our Indies are very good quality birds from top lines but we do not concentrate on conditioning or training them as we do the Calls which has hurt us in competition. Please Contact Us with any specific questions you may have about our birds.

In blues, please indicate if you are willing to accept blacks and/or splash colored birds. Please also indicate if these will be your only birds or if you have other stock you intend to breed with these. If these will be your only birds, we will make every effort to provide you with birds that can be successfully mated together. We do not guarantee fertility of any birds. Our birds are generally very good layers and the drakes have had excellent fertility but we cannot tell beforehand that a bird will lay or breed. Pricing is set according to the quality of the bird. Occasionally some top quality birds may also become available for sale. Please let us know if these might be of interest to you. Prices for these will be quoted as they become available.

Early orders are highly recommended since the highest quality birds are always spoken for first. A deposit of 10% or a minimum of $20 (whichever is greater) is required to book an order. Deposits are not refundable. If we are unable to fill your order for some reason, you will have the option to roll your order into the following year (your order will have priority in the following year at the price quoted when your order was placed) or have your money refunded in full. If you choose to cancel the order and have paid money above the 10% or $20 deposit, that money (not the deposit) will be refunded to you. Please include a phone number and your full mailing address when placing an order. If stock of a different quality or color is acceptable should your first choice not be available, please state that in your order. Orders are placed by e-mail with a deposit to follow unless you have access to my address or phone number somehow :) We will deliver stock at no charge to shows which we attend provided that arrangements are made well in advance and provided that the stock is paid for in full.

Any unpaid balance due must be paid within one week after you are notified of the tentative shipping date. Orders not paid in full will not be shipped and deposits may be forfeited if not paid in a timely manner. You may also lose your option to purchase the birds of your first choice depending upon demand. We accept certified checks, money orders and Paypal. Personal checks are accepted but require a two week hold for clearance. If you intend to pay by personal check, make sure there is time for it to clear before the shipping date. We normally ship on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Specific shipping dates cannot be guaranteed. Shipment and delivery of stock usually begins in October and continues until all stock is sold out. Generally, pet quality stock can be shipped earlier than show or breeder stock and may even be shipped in early summer provided temperatures are reasonable. We do not ship at temperatures above 80 degrees or below 20 degrees on both sending and receiving ends.

Shipping is by Express Mail in approved containers. Shipping for a single bird is $40, a pair is $50, two pair is $60. The Post Office has indicated that they may impose a surcharge on live animal shipments. If this should occur, the surcharge will be added to the buyer's shipping expenses. Express Mail is not available everywhere so please check with your local post office before you order. We will also need to check our local Air Mail Facility to ensure that a flight is available to your location. We haven't had one refused yet and have other options available should it occur but it is best to check first. Express Mail shipments are either next day or second day delivery. The post office does not insure Express Mail shipments of live birds. Birds are shipped at the buyer's risk. We have sent many shipments (worked out the wrinkles in our local Postal system) and there has never been a loss but you must be aware that the buyer bears the risk. Please Contact Us with any questions you may have.
