The following are links that we have found useful, informative or just plain fun. There is no sense in our trying to re-invent the wheel on topics such as incubating (and many others!) when these sites do such a great job. We plan to continue to expand this page and hope you will Contact Us with pages you think we should include here or with links that are not working.

General Information

Journey to Forever This web site is a phenomenal country/small farm resource with fantastic articles and clever solutions.

Rocking T Ranch This site has an incredibly comprehensive collection of articles, both from their farm and in links. It has beginner information as well as detailed "how to" articles. A little difficult to navigate but one of my favorite sites for surfing all things poultry.

FeatherSite This site has information about chickens, ducks, guineas, peafowl, turkeys, swans, geese, wildfowl, pigeons and more! The link section is extensive and covers many aspects of owning poultry. From basic to weird, this site covers a ton of information.

Quacker's Home This is a great site for duck or chicken enthusiasts with tons of links to really good sites on incubating, candling and hatching eggs, brooding, housing and care of birds, health and science articles and much more.

Avian Web It says it is "One of the most extensive avian informational web sites online" and I believe it.

The Easy Chicken Scott Shilala's site has excellent articles on chicken keeping and also has a number of products he sells.

Henderson's Chicken Chart The whole site is good but this chart is exceptional so I've linked directly to the chart. It compares information on 70 breeds of chickens!

Health

Cornell University's Vet Consultant Search their site for information about diseases either by diagnosis or by symptom. For birds, cows, dogs, cats, pigs, horses, etc.

Mississippi State University Extension Service This site has fantastic poultry information on hatching, diseases and other topics. There is also a diagnostic tool to help you figure out what is wrong if a bird is sick. The site isn't the easiest to navigate but keep trying links and you'll get there.

Shagbark Bantams KJ Theodore has some excellent poultry health articles on her site and some beautiful birds.

Avian Veterinarian Finder If it ever happens that you need an avian vet quickly, this site will try to help you locate one close to you.

Duck Care Home Page A page presented by the Cornell University Duck Research Laboratory.

Acorn Hollow Bantams Lou Horton's site is an excellent site with informative articles on Calls and Indies, incubating waterfowl eggs, housing and many other topics.

Waterfowl of Chenoa An excellent web site for wild waterfowl with a number of creative ideas for construction if you are handy.

Incubating and Incubators

Most of these are unusual incubation resources.
Quacker's Home links page has an excellent list of incubation resources for normal use (candling, troubleshooting, brooding, etc.

Handy Hint's for Raising Ducklings Caroline Crocker's page is an excellent beginner's guide to incubating and hatching.

Embryology See what an egg looks like at fertilization and see pics of developing chicks at each day of incubation.

The Poultry Connection This site has message boards for poultry, waterfowl and exhibition waterfowl, access to poultry and waterfowl chat rooms, a poultry auction (eggbay.com) and much, much more.

The Coop The Coop has a fairly active group of message boards including a message board devoted to discussion of poultry genetics.

The Cozy Nest A cozy place to visit with lots of information and a very active, friendly message board.

Poultry and Party Information Exchange A fun message board.

Cochin Board A message board devoted to Cochins.

Peafowl Board A message board devoted to peafowl.

Egg Swappers Board A message board for those who want to buy, sell or swap eggs.

Game Birds and Waterfowl An excellent site for gamebirds and wild waterfowl that has a fairly active message board.

www.guineas.com This is a fairly new site but very complete, friendly and very well done. I'm so impressed I'm listing it first.

www.guineafowl.com This is an excellent site covering almost anything you can imagine relating to guineas.

Peacocks

United Peafowl Association An excellent site about peafowl with many articles.

The Peacock Information Center This site is rather commercial but if you are looking for books on the subject of Peafowl, this is the site to see.

Peafowl Board A message board devoted to peafowl.

Legg's Peafowl has some excellent articles and beautiful Peas.

Von Russell Farm If you like variations on Pea colors, this is the place to look.

Personal Web Sites

Evy Avery's Picture page Not a web site exactly but Evy has fantastic call ducks and a beautiful layout with her barns, pens and gardens. Evy is one of only a small handful of Master Breeders of Calls in the country.

Caroline Crocker's site Caroline has an excellent site showing the development of a duckling from hatch to adulthood. She also has beautiful artwork and gardens. This site is just plain fun!

Sonja's site Sonja's pics of gardens, ponds, clever pool draining techniques and beautiful pens.

ExoticWaterfowl.com Ian Gereg's site which has all sorts of waterfowl.

Bantam Pond David Touchette's site with lots of great pictures of swans, wilds and Call ducks.

Seven Oaks Game Farm Claude McAllister's site with great prices on poultry supplies. He's also a great guy to talk to and will help you with any questions about what you might need. Be patient, it is a one man operation! Call, don't e-mail.

Smith Poultry and Game Bird Supplies Another great place to do your poultry supply shopping. These folks are great and so are the prices.

Mor Electric This company manufactures and supplies ceramic infrared heaters. They are very pleasant folks to do business with.

Predators and Trapping

There are TONS of links off our
Predator Page but these are probably the most helpful.

Trapperman.com If you have poultry, you will eventually have predators. When it happens, check out this site for ideas on how to catch the critter. The "basic sets" section will walk you through all sorts of sets to catch the critter. There is also a "mentor" section that might help you locate some local trappers happy to have a place to set some traps.

Minnesota Trapline Products An excellent place to purchase trapping supplies. Their prices and selection are about the best around and the owners are very friendly and helpful. They would be able to suggest what you might need for your situation be it muskrats in your duck pond or a bobcat eating your chickens.

Predator FAQ This page is primarily for predators of sheep but provides excellent information about larger predators.

Odds and Ends

Brown Egg Blue Egg Show Listing The most complete on-line show listing I've ever run across.

Livestock Guardian Dogs This site has information about all sorts of Livestock Guardian Dogs. We love our Great Pyrenees but wish we had found this site a long time ago.

Game Bird and Waterfowl This web site has information and a message board relating to game birds, peafowl, waterfowl, guineas, and other fowl.
